Mad about biodiversity and anything that can be done to protect and enhance it. Soft spot for Irish flora and fauna, especially invertebrates. Lán-sásta Gaeilge a úsáid! Loves trad + rugby! Limerick / Dublin / Clare
Two of the more photogenic moths visiting the garden in Knocklyon last night- Peppered moth and Small elephant hawk moth. Two little beauties xx

Illegal dumping of greenwaste is such a scurge. Harder to remove than old scooters and bottles but utterly destroys wild flora + fauna with invasives, disease + excess nutrients. Impossible task for volunteers left to do what waste contractors were paid to do correctly but didn't bother. #litter
Did you spot the illegal dumping of huge amounts of landscaping waste in the Knocklyon Park woodland? Please report it if you did! The scale of the event is destroying the woodland flora and will be a nightmare for volunteers to remove to save the woodland! @knocklyonpark.bsky.social

Awful news on bumble bee counts in UK in 2024. We certainly saw big drops on our transect walks in Dublin also. Bumblebee queens need early flowering plants for nest building energy, but the lawnmowers get rolled out at the first opportunity! #habitatloss #bumbógs #WeedsWillSafeUs #dandelions

The figure is only for deaths from traumatic injuries & does not include deaths from a lack of healthcare or food, or the thousands believed to be buried under rubble.

Before choosing bottled water over tap water, remember it takes more than 10X the water that a bottle of water holds to make the plastic bottle and transport the water. And that’s before considering the fuel and GHGs, the 1000 year bottle life, and the RIDICULOUS amount of $ we’re paying for water.

Who loves wasps?

WE LOVE WASPS!

Did you know?

Not all wasps are out to get you. In fact, no wasps are actually out to get you. But solitary wasps are DEFINITELY not out to get you. They simply want to mate or gather enough food to feed their future young.
