What we're seeing at #handsoff protests nationwide today and what we saw at the ballot box on Tuesday are not unrelated. The public is furious. It will not be silenced. And those who side with Trump and Musk—or refuse to fight back—will be swept out of office.

The chaos and crisis is the point, because it justifies declaring an emergency and claiming extraordinary powers. And Republicans in congress are complicit. They could stop this at any point.
Who benefits from an economic crisis? Trump does. He declares an economic emergency—then manufactures one—which allows him to expand his power. Under the National Emergencies Act (NEA), the president can unlock more than 120 special statutory powers. No wonder he was just out golfing—crisis pays.

Why is this surprising to anyone? We know that he’s stupid. It’s been incredibly fucking obvious for nearly a decade now.
It’s so shockingly dumb—yes, even for him—that it’s hard to believe that we have a president of the United States who is this ignorant.
Donald Trump Really Is a Lot Dumber Than We Thought. Like, a Lot!
His reading of American history is shockingly stupid, even for him.

This. All day long, this.
i am fascinated by the outright refusal of people in the professional political commentary class to just consider the possibility that there is no plan and that trump really is a braying idiot with the more acute case of narcissistic personality disorder on record

Good day to remember that DOGE has already lost the US government at least half a trillion dollars this year alone. And likely more.

Pundits hate simplicity. If something is simple you don’t have to have pundit expertise to explain it.

Trump Cabinet now has a public record as the stupidest Cabinet in history.

This isn’t complicated. They are stupid rich people. Any analysis that doesn’t begin with their stupidity is stupid.

Watching Trump voters crying out in pain like this should be ASMR for us, just like the WH said deportations were like ASMR for them. But we’re not assholes like them, and we don’t actually want anyone to suffer. Not even these fools who totally deserve their self-inflicted wounds.
Trump’s own voters are turning on him.

One really important thing to notice about the tariffs is that there are at least half a dozen explanations **from their proponents** about what they're meant to accomplish. Meanwhile there are another half dozen explanations from their foes. It is highly reminiscent of 2002 during the build up ...

If you pretend that your differences with friends and coworkers and family are about “politics” when in fact they’re about right versus wrong and fascism versus the rule of law, you’re doing your country a grave disservice.
