This report comes in response to Trump’s threats of “bombing the likes of which they have never seen before” if Tehran does not agree to a new nuclear agreement.

If you're looking for an explainer on why due process matters to share with friends and family members who might ... need convincing, I've removed the (partial) paywall from my March 19 post for "One First" on the topic:

Bonus 133: Due Process and the Rule of Law
Too many Americans don't understand, at a basic level, *why* the Constitution requires due process when the government deprives anyone of their life, liberty, or property.

This is one of those points where the complete institutional failure of the US media really becomes apparent. It's a ridiculous threat because the US doesn't import any Russian oil, obviously, but neither the journalist conducting the interview or other media outlet will point that out.

That's not how States Secret privilege works at all (and I've litigated several).

Executive Branch does not get to shut down judiciary inquiry. Quite the opposite, per Supreme Court.

Trump Administration is proceeding at its own peril.
Hooooo boy: "The Executive Branch hereby notifies the Court that no further information will be provided in response to the Court’s March 18, 2025 Minute Order based on the state secrets privilege." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Do you get it yet, law firms?

These orders aren’t isolated threats to Covington or Perkins or Jenner.

They’re existential threats to the independence of the legal profession.

You’re a fool if you think you won’t be next.

Say something. Do something.
NEW: Trump has signed an executive order targeting law firm Jenner & Block…

When I wrote my camps book, people sometimes had difficulty understanding how concentration-camp regimes were proud of what they were doing and wanted attention for it, even as they also hoped to keep many aspects secret and terrorize vulnerable classes. Anyway, this is what that looks like.

Key word is “actual.” They want to eliminate due process for deportation and this is their test case. Kind of like how they wanna arrest protestors without due process, and fire government employees without due process, and indict people without due process, and seize assets without due process.
The thing is, it would be easy to give actual gang members the limited due process they get and send them on their way if that was the goal.
