The holidays can amplify a sense of longing or feelings of grief. It’s okay to feel the weight of it or to find small comforts.

However you’re spending today, please know that you’re not alone.

Wishing you gentleness and a few unexpected moments of ease.

Mothering with chronic illness means loving through limits & redefining strength daily. Today, I’m thinking of the moms parenting from bed, grieving their motherhood journey, or finding adaptive ways to nurture. We see you. You’re powerful — even when you feel anything but.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Random #NEISvoid tip!

I can’t handwrite notes anymore which makes me so sad, but postable.com has some cute cards you can add a message to, and the lettering so much looks like real handwriting that several people thought I’d written the cards myself :)

Living with chronic pain is overwhelming. One strategy for finding comfort is incorporating small, soothing sensations. Running your fingers over soft fabrics, sipping warm tea, or wrapping yourself tight in cozy blankets can help remind your body that it also gets to feel good too!

In day-to-day life, the Social Model of Disability looks like. “No, unfortunately we can’t email you the document to sign. You have to come in person. Also, if you don’t come at XYZ time on XYZ you’re less likely to be approved.”

Chronic illness brings loss — often tremendous. The work you love, friendships, the ability to be spontaneous — it’s painful. But you are not alone. You still have so much to offer. Be gentle with yourself; don’t let internalized ableism judge you as you grieve. Self-compassion is a strength too!

Living with disabilities is a masterclass in how to handle gaslighting

You get it from everyone. Doctors, family, friends, bosses, colleagues

A neverending litany of people telling you “it can’t be THAT bad” or “you should just do this”

We are the experts in our bodies. Respect us. Listen to us.

Coping with identity loss due to chronic illness is hard. Grieve what’s changed, but also notice what still feels like you. Maybe it’s a scent, a song, a small ritual. Identity isn’t just what you do—it’s who you are. Finding new ways to express yourself can help bridge the loss. What’s helped you?

Dismissed. Disbelieved. Misdiagnosed.

This Time article by Jamie Ducharme highlights a reality MECFS and Long COVID patients know well: lack of tests and visible symptoms leads to dismissal. Doctors and psychologists must collaborate so patients are supported and believed.
