I said it before, will say it again -- generative AI fetishizes "ideas" while sneering at effort, execution, and education. That, despite Gen-AI being built on and out of other people's effort, execution and education.
A.I. and the Fetishization Of Ideas
In writing and in dispensing my (very dubious, probably shady) writing advice, I am often keen to note that ideas are bullshit. Most writers treat them like precious gems when really, ideas are lik…

I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

PAX Unplugged was a fabulous time! Met a bunch of wonderful people, found some excellent new games, had a fun time running some 5e stuff, and generally just lived it up. I am hilariously exhausted, but I’m looking forward to my next outing with @openthegatesgaming.bsky.social et al.!

We had an absolute blast at PaxU. Every single demo was so fun thanks to the unique scenarios the Pyramid Crawl came up with and the even more unique groups that came to play. We gave out about 250 copies so are really excited see what weirdness sprouts from those seeds. 🌽

Started a little book club last night with @blackaqualad.bsky.social to work through Rachel Pollack's Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom and I'm excited to dive into this text! It's definitely of its time, but it's also super interesting to read through a foundational book like this.

La Llarona. A woman drowns her children in a fit of rage and despair after being betrayed by her husband. Overcome with grief, she spends eternity wandering riversides and lakes, wailing for her lost children, and seeking others to replace them. A story rooted in Latin American culture. #witchsky
I’m in a ghostly mood tonight 👻

I’m thinking about writing up a tarot mini-challenge about institutions (in the general sense) based on Harney and Moten’s “The Undercommons: Fugitive Planning and Black Study.” It’s a text I return to often and is often referenced as a foundational text in critical university studies.

Learned helplessness leads us to outsource our power to celebrities, heroes, or representatives who were only meant to inspire us. Pluto in Aquarius corrects this. The magic is in taking the vision & implementing it practically, in accordance with our values, from the ground up. #Tarotsky #Astrosky
