A year ago this month, I moved house, and found myself the keeper of a vine. I say keeper, not owner, because of the responsibility and relationship involved—topics I bring to this writing. As I’ve tended to it, relaxed or sheltered under it, and now harvested fruit from it, I’ve found myself returning repeatedly to vines in the New Testament, and what this meeting point between past and present can teach me about my faith in action.

It's not typical Maundy Thursday matter but, given that today we are invited to reflect on our propensity to choose betrayal, fear, and self-interest over the love and selfless service offered to us all in Christ, this thread feels rather timely.
In the year ending June 2024, UK police recorded 69,184 rapes. (It’s likely this represents c. 1 in 6 of the rapes actually committed.) In 2023/24 there were 2,283 prosecutions for rape, and 1,220 convictions. And c. 11,900 rape cases are currently waiting to go to court, many for more than 2 years.

Finding out a chapter I had submitted a proposal for really is going ahead, when I knew I'd had a particularly creative idea for it and was really hoping I'd get to write it. Hurrah! Yes I have a book and two other articles to finish first. It's okay. #TinyJoys

Started watching "Boarders". Quickly realised it wasn't 8YO friendly and switched it off for child. But for me, wow. When I was 23 I taught in a school which had a scholarship very similar and it caused me much pain trying to care for those children. Dare I blog about my experiences?

Just got challenged on Twitter over whether suicide is a sin. Having had to deal with the JWs telling me that the very close friend I had who killed herself in their service was sinful. Please can any theology people I know pitch in to educate me better?
