This shouldn’t have to be said about the war of choice launched by Israel’s prime minister against Iran. Under no circumstances should the United States participate — and certainly not on the President’s initiative alone.

Right before I saw the message from Trump I got a very different one from a friend in Tehran, so deeply surrounded by bombing that he was asking me to help communicate his last wishes. This is what my own taxes fund, so much pain upon my loved ones. We are complicit in so, so, so much violence.

Knowing that Greta Thunberg, who was my 2018-19 class of sophomores' age when she began her first climate strike, is now in the hands of the Israelis makes me want to rip the entire universe apart.
