At a previous job our proprietary vendor IDE didn't have mouse scroll wheel support. I spent months perfecting a macro that mapped page up/down to wheel velocity and cursor position. I'll never get that time back.
I wouldn’t mind going backwards in technology but I’d probably stop right at the point where we got the scroll wheel on the mouse and it worked on whatever window the cursor was hovering over.
