Messaging advice from @navigatorsurvey.bsky.social. TLDR: talk about things people depend on being taken away and how this benefits the billionaires, don't talk about spending or a pause or separation of powers.
When communicating on the Administration’s actions, it’s critically important that messengers clearly outline the human impacts of their latest move to enrich billionaires. Focus on the true victims of this decision - people who depend on programs - not on the process of “spending freezes/pauses.”  This isn’t a “spending freeze,” this is a “cut to programs that people depend on.” Do not let this be a conversation about spending – make this about programs and their impact on real people. DO: Call the Trump Administration Orders a cut to popular, impactful programs that people depend on. don't: call the cuts a “spending pause” or “freeze” Do: Make this about taking away things people depend on. Don't: take this about refusing to fund programs. DO: talk about the people impacted (e.g., seniors, long-term care, or families with disabled kids) by these programs (e.g., Medicaid).  Don't use technical jargon like “Federal grant freeze” or “OMB spending pause.” These are permanent spending cuts until proven otherwise. Focus on real stories and impacts on real people as a result of this sweeping cut to key programs. Tangibility for voters is key. Don't make the spending, alone, the virtue that you’re protecting.  Lay out the WHY. Trump is pulling your taxpayer dollars from the most vulnerable people in the country to give Billions to his billionaire friends through tax cuts.  Don't neglect to link these cuts back to a plan to redistribute taxpayer funds to Trump's billionaire friends. When linking this to Trump, it's important to remind Americans that this is confirmation of the Project 2025 playbook that Trump promised he wouldn’t enact - he’s betraying people.  Don't highlight the cuts to “spend” instead of focusing on the real impact on people's lives.
