To me it seems unserious ideologically to be an ancom but drawing a line at neighborhoods densifying. I'm imagining you anticipate or hope for a revolution where the built environment doesnt change or grow at all? Please enlighten me as to what you actually think I'm not being judgy or ironic

If rent was 200$ a month most would rent indefinitely.
Gaping hole in peoples reasoning is why a few thousand a month for 30 years of mortgage doesn't practically feel like an indefinite burden, at least until some real equity is built.

Housing stock must go up for rents to go down, or remain in amber and the original people living there will be gone before you try to pass rent control. There's no third option

The plaintiff likely just hates young people, or gay people, or both, pricing and displacement is just what they're using to **virtue signal**, as in the true definition. Pretending to have justified rage, when it's just normal shallow rage.

A lot of this sort of stuff IS gay and annoying, they're also most often genuine improvements to an area. Displacement can still happen without any of it even happening, See: rent going up while a neighborhood still sucks (most of america)

Shallow qualms about cities described as "gentrification",
- circular arguments about baristas and coffee
- young people in 'outfits'
- modern renovations on buildings
- yoga studios, organic food
- bike lanes
- jogging
these are almost all don't amount to anything more than fashion and taste,

ROUTE 90* oops
October 2, 2025 at 4:11 PM
I have never noticed this line in my time map-looking before. Pop. density maps from google don't seem to show anything similar. To my eyes it roughly follows Amtrak/ route 60. Curious if that's really a noticeable pattern of low(er) car ownership than surroundings or if its just an anomaly of data.

whatever strawman location theyre worried about probably does make sense to densify though
September 22, 2025 at 9:23 PM
as it goes with all attempts to unrestrict zoning ppl somehow hear that their house(/lot) will have to immediately be changed, rather than when they sell in 20 years/never cause it wont always make sense to densify
September 22, 2025 at 9:23 PM
If/when it comes to vote, we're gonna need to remember to get in front of the issue of ppl who will inevitably read the measure as "it will be illegal to have a larger lot size than 5000 sq ft".
