This is exciting! For all of us feeling chronic pain for no good reason, this is a big step to better management.
🧪 Hey friends, if you need a break from *all this* and want some beautiful science, behold this new paper by @neuropharmnerd.bsky.social!

It’s about how cells in our spinal cord that receive information from the body about pain are activated by special channels in cells far away. I’ll explain…

🧵
This study by Yaroslav E. Andrianov et al. finds that activation of TRPA1 and TRPM3 triggers Ca2+ waves in central terminals of sensory #neurons and facilitates #synaptic activity in the spinal dorsal horn ⚙️ 🧠

We are a nation of migrants. The more we lift up and support integration of students and ALL newcomers, the more cohesive and prosperous our nation. Why do we never stop "othering" our newest would-be migrants?!
We promised them a home. Instead, they became collateral damage.

Canada’s message to international students was “Study, work, and stay.” Now, policies are changing, and tens of thousands may lose their status. Writer @marcellodicintio.bsky.social explores: thewalrus.ca/canada-held-the-...

I'm conflicted. Nothing concrete yet, but if the motive WAS political we need to remember that democracy depends on being able to speak your mind and dissent without fear of violence. But CK undermined democracy with misinformation and hate-mongering which no doubt created unnecessary suffering.

My plea to the Conservatives: get back to creating concrete plans for the Canadian economy and excise the tumor of socially oppressive, anti-science thinking in your party. Canadians deserve choice in leadership without the price of the rights and health of their loved ones.
