My friend in one of our WhatsApp groups has been telling us about stories from an old German fairytale book. It includes:

- The scissors man who cuts off your thumb if you don't stop fucking sucking it

- The cats who warned the girl about playing with matches (and... lol)

I'm OBSESSED, holy shit

I didn't have the capacity to zoom up to Harrogate this weekend and then exhibit at AdventureX next weekend, so I'm going to be feeling huge Thought Bubble FOMO this weekend! Have fun everyone! Say hello to the Turkish Baths for me! Buy lots of comics!

I, too, harp for the bygone days where my only concerns were if I had enough pocket money to buy the Transformer toy I really wanted, if I could learn my times tables without getting caned by the headmaster, and wondering which racial epithet I'd hear next!

*sighs wistfully into the horizon*
"What is certain, and felt instinctively by almost everybody, is that things cannot go on in their present way" – The Times, May 1975

It'll be the first outing of my lil guy, so if you want to come to our table and buy Artistic Erotica Made With Great Artistic Intent (alongside all my usual horror/scifi/cyberpunk comics) come to A25!

Still angry, but I've ordered cheap Asda cookie dough chip ice-cream for tomorrow's delivery, because Häagen-Dazs clearly hates life and money and doesn't do it anymore, so there's still time for my anger to get even worse

Working on my first feature film, my debut novel and on games barely alive due to lack of funding as I seriously ponder the need to go back to retail next year to survive, while AI bros and the government screech about the millions for their snake oil is fueling a very special kind of anger today

Getting back into Critical Role has been a soothing hug at the right time. I've been literally laughing and gasping out loud during some episodes, so might have to avoid watching on public transport, though.

(Or maybe just continue, but have a wild look in my eyes as I do, so people steer clear)

AI investment and the desperate need to find *any* use for it has rotted so many damned brains in the government that they're not even trying to slap a sticking plaster on a bullet injury anymore, they're attempting to put a prawn sandwich on a decapitation wound and call it progress.

Chatting with Future Class inductees for my latest at @theguardian.com. They paint a pretty clear picture of the perils of performative allyship.

Thanks to all who spoke with me, and always, to Keza for the chance to do important work!

All this James Bond "WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DOOOOOOO" hilarity brings to mind @patrickhwillems.bsky.social's excellent examination of the IP, and ultimately what will happen once the overthinking stops and the money people start tapping their watches.

A classic case of ignoring a simple answer in order to create an unnecessary problem.

It can't be overstated how much a growing reliance on nostalgia and crafting 'deep lore' and/or a shared universe for everything at the sacrifice of doing what's best for the story has stunted our creativity.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Earlier this year I worked as one of the writers on TreesPlease's Long Leaf Valley DLC, in association with Sea Shepherd, promoting sea conservation.

They just won 3 Playing for the Planet and Green Game Jam awards, in recognition for that work.

Proud to be part of it 🥳

Occasionally difficult and emotional weekend, but grateful.

Going to finish this feature and get some sleep. Feels like the next few days are going to be tiring.

I really hope the actual article isn't as desperate as its clickbait headline, but said clickbait headline ensures I might never know.

That I can't tell if it's a tongue-in-cheek feature or not is annoyingly indicative of the media landscape we currently live in.
