A Saudi man has been sentenced to death for criticizing the government on two anonymous twitter/X accounts with a total of ten followers.

Just like how today's right wing hates when we call their 'reasonable positions' racist, I just came across a National Review piece from 1965 like Why are we called racists just bc we oppose Black voting rights?

Also, these bomb threats directed at IL public libraries is the direct result of our state law that bans book bans. They are enraged that their book banning tactics have been turned against them and are retaliating. The DOJ needs to charge these people mentioned upthread with hate crimes.

Probably also worth noting that a final order from a district court concluding that controlled digital lending is copyright infringing does NOT need to have immediate impact on your library's plans unless you're in SDNY. It's as legal (or not) as it was last week most other places. 📚📜

Final order out in Hachette v. Internet Archive. Judge ruled that IA only has to stop sharing the publishers' books that do exist as ebooks.
