FIFA says it and Qatar and a bunch of UN bodies have launched a $50m World Cup legacy fund. It will be used to fund a bunch of things. Details attached. What it won’t be for, is to pay remedies for workers or their dependents killed or injured building the W. Cup. Perhaps that is still to come.

I for one am amazed that Keir Starmer, five months after winning a 170 seat majority, has not called a fresh election after acceding to a random petition. Shameful stuff. www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/keir-s...

Is this a safe space to say I have no time for Fabrizio Romano for a whole host of reasons, one being he comes across as a PR agent for various unsavoury players/clubs more than anything else these days?

“In 2022, YouGov asked “What percentage of Americans do you think are ___?”

The results were hilarious.

Trans: 21%
Muslim: 27%
Jewish: 30%
Black: 41%
Live in NYC: 30%
Gay or lesbian: 30%

The errors are off by orders of magnitude. The trans estimation by 2,000%.”

Manchester City have done something right to keep Guardiola so long. Just four seasons at Barcelona, the team of his heart, and three at Bayern. But will be ELEVEN at Man City if he sees out his contract. The romance of the project must be what has kept him there so long.

The new Wallace & Gromit is 79 minutes long and will *also* air on Christmas Day.

Last year, when I was at MSNBC, I did a 10-minute deep-dive into RFK Jr's anti-vaxxer role in the measles outbreak that killed dozens and dozens of kids in Samoa.

I hope every Senator voting in his confirmation process for HHS knows about this crucial and awful story:

Anybody who says ‘I’m not a conspiracy perdon’ or ‘I’m very skeptical about conspiracies’ is almost invariably about to promote a conspiracy theory and illustrate that they are in fact rather credulous.

This is precisely why 'apolitical' people are so dangerous. It becomes an exercise in personal convenience. If it's convenient for them to celebrate immigrants, they will. If it's convenient for them to demonise immigrants & weaponise hatred, they'll just as happily align with xenophobic ideologues

I think that gets me most about these growing numbers of violent fascists I see every day in Berlin is - there’s nothing existential at stake for them. This rage they’ve whipped up about the white race being replaced - it’s all a delusion they got angry about online. And we have to suffer for it.
