Charles Xavier in X-Men #97

(or in X-Men #56)

He does this a lot.

This wasn't what I intended to finish next but things don't always work out the way we want, do they.

Tapestry? Yeah I can see the correlation.

I did include her in my super-quick Psylocke Corps scribbles at least!

And yeah Amanda is "dead". Not Dead.

Love seeing Black Widow's first costume make it into Rivals and so many people being utterly confused by it.

Dave Cockrum was with no hyperbole whatsoever one of the best character designers to ever work in superhero comics. His sense of style holds up today with many designs like Phoenix, Nightcrawler and Storm being all-time classics.

Right? The condition is amazing.

Asking another vendor "do you have anything WEIRD" led to an interesting conversation. I think the original Shadowhawk trade and Avengelyne trade count. That Avengelyne one is very much an oddity. And a stray Ultraverse issue!

Another vendor had a stack of old UK comics and I picked up some issues of BATTLE. I wanted more of BATTLE ACTION FORCE due to its weird tie-in with the G.I. Joe franchise but these two were all he had. That's fine, the Baron Ironblood cover is worth the price of admission alone.

I also got some regular old comics. These were all in the $2 bing with a discount for buying a bunch. Especially happy with the last issue of ROM in FANTASTIC condition and those 60's issues!

Also some Bryan Hitch Marvel UK and Generation X, what's not to love.

From Jim Cheung I bought a print of one of his best covers ever. It was worth every penny.

I had to think really hard about what I wanted Garth to sign but ultimately it had to be HAWK THE SLAYER and the two issues of the Demon I owned. I wanted to get MEDIEVAL SPAWN AND WITCHBLADE signed but I could not find my old copy or a replacement in time!

So what did I bring home with me?

I had Starlin sign what I consider a good selection of his work. I don't own an original Death of Captain Marvel and I could not find any physicals of Dreadstar before the con, so it had to be Marvel cosmic all the way, baby!

For some inscrutable reason the arrangers picked a cover for his UK battle comics for his banner instead of the Boys or preacher or something, but those series were what pretty much everyone brought to his table. The line was definitely longest there, so many wanting to see Garth.

...my attention was as usual focused entirely on the comics pros. The arrangers set up a proper "comics village" in one quarter of the venue, putting all the comic book sellers, publishers and guests in one spot. My mecca.

There's Jim Starlin setting up his booth.

The con also has three different guest categories: actors, comics pros and cosplayers. I visited the cosplayers, didn't really visit the actors (though Giancarlo Esposito is great and the BG3 VA's are fun). But...

Naturally the amount of merch on sale was unreal. There's an artists alley which is awesome and fun but also a ton of bendors selling bootleg anime merchandise and many even have the same stuff. Still, just browsing all the tat can be entertaining.

Nintendo had the biggest exhibitor booth but the Pokemon one was as usual the one that drew every single child in attendance, as well as plenty of adults. Good foresight of the Pokemon company to keep their presence up.
November 9, 2025 at 11:40 PM
I was there very early on Friday for the opening due to how crowded it tends to get later (and on the other two days) so I had fairly free range to roam. Loads of vendors and exhibitors all over ranging from Nintendo to some energy drink company to Netflix to... Tesla? What the fuck?!

The Stockholm Comic Con isn't that old as far as CC franchise holders go, but it's been around for a good few years now. It's located at Älvsjömässan, the largest exhibition venue we have. Fortunately this is located only like 30 minutes away from me by commute, which makes things easy.

Last weekend was Comic Con Stockholm (Winter edition) and I was on sight for certain reasons which will become apparent. I do not have the energy to go into immense detail but this 🧵will be my con coverage.

Fair warning: Garbage phone camera pictures abound.
