Every person seeing this has “agreed” to arbitration without realizing it. -waiving the right to a jury, to a judge, to discovery, to bring class claims, and on and on. Arbitration agreements originated for business v business disputes not to ensure consumers and workers lose due to power imbalance.
One of the biggest lies spread by corporations is that consumers and workers voluntarily agree to #ForcedArbitration.

Most people don’t know a forced arbitration clause is part of their contract, and the contract is typically "take-it-or-leave-it." #FinePrintTraps #FairAct #ProtectConsumers

Excited to be back in my home town to support Healing Appalachia! Gonna listen to some great music this weekend and raise desperately needed money to help the area continue to climb out of the opioid epidemic. No one is going to help us but us. Be safe out there and take care of your neighbors.

It’s a terrible bill. It will literally kill people. The most vulnerable among us will suffer as the wealthiest benefit. It’s perverse. I wish there were something I could do. But alas, I am only a U.S. Senator from Alaska whose “no” vote would kill the bill. So I voted yes. You get it.

It seems early but we appear to have entered my favorite weeks of a summer farm share: aubergine and tomatoes. 🤤🤤🤤

While Trump sucks Elon’s, er, charging cable, could the media remind him these cars are woke? Electric car rebates for buyers, carbon offsets for Tesla? Climate change? Green new deal? Media, please make him square the circle.

This is the real life consequence of Trump, Elon, Project 2025. Some loan shark claiming 0% interest and then trapping someone into a usurious loan?!? Dead to rights, it’s morally and legally wrong and the CFPB swings into action. But not now. Now we we side with the loan shark. Make it make sense.
The CFPB has dismissed an enforcement action that it had filed last year against #SoLoFunds for deceiving borrowers and illegally extracting fees. Now states have to pick up the pieces against a company that's deceiving borrowers and ignoring rate caps. www.nclc.org/cfpb-drops-l...

Shock. Gasp. Who could’ve seen it coming?!? Make some more profit on the backs of the working poor? Fuckin’ A. Eat the rich.
Wow. Less than a month into the Trump presidency, and they're already giving big banks the green light to gouge consumers with junk fees.

Time to put every Republican on-record: will you support *increasing* junk fees on your constituents?

Just deliberately crashing and then restoring the market and rich people betting on it happening and enriching themselves. Nothing to see here.
Anyone who happened to know that the White House would announce and then suspend tariffs within 24 hours just made a boatload of money.

Yes, this current moment is terrifying for many of us. And also - I firmly believe there is so much that we can do. Here’s something short that I wrote on that: “if you’re terrified right now, here’s what to do next.” If of interest, please share. open.substack.com/pub/okwonga/...
