When the Morrison Govt left office, they were employing 50,000 ppl through consultancies & labour hire & cost $20bn for a single year.

Gutting the public service will not save $$ & it will hurt our vets, age pensioners & new parents needing access to PPL.

So, how are you all finding Bluesky?
I am mostly enjoying it, just finding it a little lacking in the hard edge breaking news aspect of twitter?
It really needs an Australian Trends section.

Oh my goodness. What is new Microsoft robot detection tests for real? I couldn’t understand the visual one, failed the first audible one and don’t care enough to repeat it. 15 tests, and if you fail one, you get to the end and have to redo them all. I miss captchas

This is such a lovely touch!
The curation of bedside books for guests is an activity that brings me ridiculous amounts of joy. If you stay with me, know that the stack of you-ish books beside your bed is on purpose & that I've been thinking about it for years like some kind of Icelandic Yule cat, minus the part where I eat you.

HERE ONE MOMENT, Liane Moriarty: The premise is irresistible--a woman on a flight from Hobart to Sydney begins predicting the age and manner of death of her fellow passengers. Beautifully written, this propulsive novel has a serious theme. Could be a great Xmas present for that special someone.

I’ve had a parcel with Aramex that left Sydney (two hours away) 11 days ago and I still haven’t received it! They aren’t answering phones and now their website is crashing. This is our national courier. Still- I can only imagine how smashed they must be. But maybe under-resourced.

Started Murakami's "The City and Its Uncertain Walls" last night. Promises to be quite Murakami - young love and magical realism.

Up to Chapter 11 in Part 1.
