So who else is mostly cooking for the next 24 hours? Anyone interested in a #xmascookalong?

Why has this not happened: a gameshow where 10 audiophiles have to tell the difference between expensive £1k - £10k audiophile gear and a £300 setup.

I would watch the SHIT out of that.

Greece’s brown bears rebound as protections reshape rural landscapes. Brown bear numbers in northern Greece have risen to an estimated 870, roughly four times their 1990s population, after hunting bans and long-term conservation efforts. Wolves and boars have expanded too, reaching the outskirts […]

The @mindnode app has long been my favorite mind mapping tool but I fell out of using it because it was a closed garden for a long time. The recent (to me, anyway!) shortcuts and deep linking make it much easier to integrate into workflows with other tools like #obsidian.

The M-mount to Z-mount adapter for my Nikon Zf arrived and I’m finally reunited with my poor languishing M-mount lenses, including my 15mm/4.5 and 40mm/1.4 Voightlanders both of which are lovely and useless on crop sensors. #photography

As technology and infrastructure get ever-more complex and society becomes ever-more interconnected, we need to realize something important:

We cannot do it alone.

We can exert some measure of control over fields in which we have developed some expertise […]

Time to see what playing vaccination roulette with my immune system (which tends to be a little overdramatic about these things) bring this year. Covid and flu done. Will I sail on through, need a little nap or spin 24 hours asleep?

I sometimes wonder if my preference for 40mm as a “normal” lens is down to my over trained peripheral vision. Partly martial arts but mostly horse riding: when you’re sitting on a metric ton of muscle that’s occasionally afraid of plastic bags or pigeons you tend to pay attention to the edges of […]

3,150-year-old papyrus reveals the world’s earliest recorded labour strike. The document […]

The calls from America this weekend to "abolish the EU" are for one simple reason: the EU is the only thing that can keep European nation-states from becoming Russian or American vassals.
The US has declared rhetorical war on the EU
The calls from America this weekend to destroy the EU are revealing. They hate the union because it's the only thing that can keep European countries from being Russian or American vassals.
