NEW: More than two decades after victims and families of the 9/11 attacks began trying to hold the Saudi government responsible for aiding the Qaida terrorists who carried out the plot, a judge has ruled that a lawsuit against the kingdom can go to trial.
Sept. 11 Victims’ Lawsuit Against Saudi Government Can Go to Trial, Judge Rules
Information uncovered by plaintiffs has already undermined the FBI’s conclusion that two U.S.-based Saudi officials “unwittingly” helped al-Qaida hijackers after they arrived in America.

Corporate DEI initiatives were set out for failure from the very beginning. It was all performative marketing & branding, and never really about true change. Big Tech only ever cared about it when it served their interests; So #zuck going full Musk shouldn't really come as a surprise

Waymo is peak American innovation. With way less money they could have built a reliable public transport network, but instead someone was like "what if we could find a way for empty vehicles to contribute to traffic too? There's no reason we can't have more cars on the road than there are drivers"

Thank you for reporting this @davidmcswane.bsky.social. An incredibly sad story stemming from nothing but greed. I hope the families get justice for this
The hospital’s CEO held a staff meeting about Dr. Weiner. “Don’t be surprised if black suits show up,” he said, according to court records.

One nurse said, “You walked out of there feeling like, ‘Was I killing people?’”

A Hospital Helped a Beloved Doctor’s Practice Flourish Even as It Suspected He Was Hurting Patients
Hailed as a savior upon his arrival in Helena, Dr. Thomas C. Weiner became a favorite of patients and his hospital’s highest earner. As the myth surrounding the high-profile oncologist grew, so did…

It's amazing watching the MAGA Right gain class consciousness! First the rift caused by Ben Shapiro over the Luigi Magione case then now with Elon Musk and Vivek clearly laying out a plan to hire foreign labor via H1B visas instead of investing in the very people that put them in power.

If #vivek & #elon actually cared about MAGA, they will be coming up with plans to improve the education system in the US to produce more high skilled workers! Instead they criticize the very people that put them in power bc all they care about is generating profits for themselves.

Lina Khan has truly fought for consumers as FTC Chair the last few years. I'm really hoping the upcoming administration continues her work, but there's a good chance that wouldn't happen.

This is exactly the kind of reform that the health insurance industry needs. When you place an economic incentive for denying care to people, then "delay, defend, depose" becomes the go-to strategy for insurers in order to maximize profits
That authorization process is one we should not be asking ins comps to do. That role should be performed by INDEPENDENT TPAs. With zero economic incentive to approve or deny.

The first step is for self insured entities to use 3rd party TPAs and move away from insurance companies for this service

The UHC CEO murder is a direct example of a growing trend of extreme violence to get a point across. Violence has become so commonplace that acts like these are celebrated online as justice. There's no doubt that the health insurance industry is one riled with corruption and profits over everything

The big tech industry is at a crossroads. It's now clearer to people the dangers centralized systems with incredible power pose to public good and well-being. The rise of decentralized and privacy focused platforms (eg. bsky) means that significant changes are on the horizon. 1/2

@rose.bsky.team qq: Bluesky uses Decentralized Identifiers (DID) built into atproto for user identification. The main idea here is to have an ID system that does not depend on centralized systems (eg governments & CAs). But then, how will bsky have verified users? (e.g journalists and politicians)

It takes guts to build anything, let alone something that challenges the status quo like #bsky did! I really hope we can see more applications in the near future take on legacy systems that have become too comfortable with just sucking money out of people while providing subpar services.
