Here for support with my #T1D.
"Let food be thy medicine," said Hippocrates.
As I recover from my eye surgery, my food is important.
Kale for zeaxanthin, courgette for vitamin C - both vital for eye health. Fresh turmeric for its anti-inflammatory properties.
Accompanied by roasted tofu & toasted sunflower seeds. #T1D

I've quit caffeine for my #mentalhealth and to reduce my #anxiety. Today I had my first one in 4 weeks. It won't become a regular fixture again any time soon. I am better off without it.

Such an amazing day today. A wonderful bike ride to restore the soul. No mileage, heart rate, calories, speed, cadence or any of that bs recorded. You can't measure pleasure. #mentalhealth #T1D

I invented this recipe for bean chilli some 20+ years ago. This week, my wife made it again for us, at my request. I wanted to know if I could get away with it. Turns out it wasn't a great idea. Despite my best calculations of the carb content, my BG went up to 11! this is why I #keto for my #T1D.

Hey! My shirt and beanie from @bt1dplay.bsky.social came in. Got these because back in November my community raised nearly $300 for Type 1 Diabetes research! Thank you all again for helping make that happen, already looking forward to this November 🌭🤙. @tiltify.com @breakthrought1dhq.bsky.social

Fatty coffee. 237 calories (not that I'm counting). Perfect when I'm a little hungry but don't want actual breakfast in the morning. No bolus required, no effect on my blood glucose. This is why I #keto for #T1D.

Decided to let my hair down and have a couple of pints of beer (i.e. liquid carbs) today. AAPS corrected for the high blood glucose that followed, but now I've started doing physical stuff (i.e. tidying up), the insulin has sent me crashing into a hypo. This is why I do #keto for my #T1D.

New research from Diabetes UK reveals widening disparities in type 1 #diabetes outcomes. 70% of adults with #T1D in the most deprived areas had markedly high blood sugar levels, compared to 56% in the least deprived areas.

Such a beautiful sunny day... had to go for a ride. 🤩
BG at 4.4 beforehand - in the past, I'd have carb-loaded to avoid a hypo. Not now. #keto gives me the freedom to go almost whenever I feel like it. Some may think keto is restrictive - for #T1D, I say it's liberating.

Sometimes, #type1diabetes just does some weird shit, despite you doing everything right. Standard lunch today, but BG decided to skyrocket for no apparent reason. Still, at least it was only 9, and not 19 like it would've been pre- #keto

Low-carb choices like this edamame & mung bean fettucine from Aldi are what make managing type 1 diabetes so much easier! This was my lunch today... check out that nice smooth BG line! #T1D

Such a beautiful sunny day calls for a bike ride! No excuses, just get out there!
The only downside is riding hard pushed my BG up... hoping my muscles will hoover up that excess glucose quickly (once AAPS gets me enough insulin). #T1D

Had a bad hypo last night. Found myself gobbling far too much Nutella from the jar. Panicked that I'd overdone it. Relieved to find that AAPS rescued me in time. Phew! #T1D #dailystruggles #mentalhealth
