The latest version of the Senate's BBB is a death sentence for US energy leadership and a giant gift to China.

It eliminates tax cuts for solar that have been around since 2005, adds a new tax on solar after 2027, and creates a new direct subsidy for coal.

Senate Finance text is out. Solar and wind out by 2028 except one weird carveout. Batteries keep full ITC /PTC and expanded component eligibility in 45X?

(Text keeps transferability but gets rid of 5-year MACRS depreciation on *all* zero-emissions tech. Bad for clean firm!)

As someone who worked in climate modeling & policy and now develops solar projects, I can't stress enough how urgent it is to call Republican Senators right now. The clean energy transition and our climate efforts will be decimated by this de facto repeal of the IRA.

Policy is secondary and rendered impressionistically, not in detail.
Seems like an interesting paper, especially for the “we-just-need-to-communicate-our-policies-better” crowd.

In recent decades, shock tactics were used mainly to rapidly impose neoliberal economic policies. But what Trump is doing goes way beyond that.

One of the toniest communities in Miami-Dade is raising roads to stay dry in the face of sea level rise.

As we’ve learned from Miami Beach and the Keys, it’s super expensive! And some residents don’t love it
