Just curious if anyone tracks #cobol here. GCC COBOL #gcobol was shipped last Spring. And we are interested in feedback.

Just checked #GitHub. #doge and #elonmusk haven't uploaded the US Social Security #SSA code base yet! So Sad. t’s NOT proprietary! The Open Source volunteers are as deserving a shot at helping as #xAI, no?

We’re pretty excited. The feedback from #GCC is that 15 is super close to being ready to put in the can. Of course there’s all that documentation and publicity stuff to do then but days/weeks.

Was just wondering what the life expectancy of a Web app is before it gets a new language, or framework, or theming. How would it compare to the say 40+ years of most #COBOL apps.

Kind of a question about life-cycle cost per line of new and changed "code".

I've always wanted to learn #COBOL but have zero professional reasons and no extra time for it. But I definitely wouldn't blast out ignorant comments about a programming language I don't understand.
