So the assertion is that C language (any language mid/back compiler) CAN NOT be extended to loop-unrolling vectorization? That loops are predominantly computatinal? In HPC these are real considerations. In finance and admin and the internet, not so much IMHO. Been in this conversation for decades.

And user-defined functions are supported as well in #COBOL.

#COBOL is a lot like riding a bike 😆. I relearned it really quickly once we started working with #gnucobol.

WHat #COBOL compiler are you using? COBOL has had CALL (procedures) since the 1970s and functions for years. Both are supported in GCC COBOL (in GCC 15 by May) and GnuCOBOL. Just saying.🤷
