My grandma’s having heart surgery today. Valve replacement (and an angioplasty last Monday). She’s one of my favorite people on the planet.

Things are so hard with this move and so financially tight. And tomorrow is my grandma’s heart surgery, my birthday (ick) on Thursday, and the anniversary of my Hannah’s (RIP, I miss you baby) gotcha day on Friday. I feel like crying so deeply.

An individual I work with has heard my name pronounced probably 2 dozen times (including from me), and has mispronounced my name about 2 dozen times. Today, for the first time, I corrected him (this coworker talks about my work as "social buzzwords" so I had no problem correcting him publicly).

Spent over an hour today looking for my cat because she had a vet appointment - Lucy has never hidden from me before. I’m desperately looking, and panicking, and all of a sudden she just strolls into the room I was in.

In Jordan. My grandma hasn’t stopped feeding me - we’ve fought over it twice. My uncle steps in “she could stand to eat less anyway” (in Arabic). Fuck you sir.

Strawberry custard pie. For my mother. It’s amazing. Next time I’ll thicken the custard just a bit more. But as a whole this was amazing.

Tucker James turns 10 today … and it’s the first birthday since Hannah Milo passed away. He’s such a good boy - before Hannah passed, he took such care of his sister, he was so happy-go-lucky, and he loved to bounce. Now he’s much more quiet - the grief remains almost a year later for all of us.

I move out of state soon which means I really only get my favorite Saturday morning ritual-of-sorts 5 more times (I move in August but I spend all of July on the road) and I’m really feeling some kinda way about it.

I think this has been the hardest year I’ve ever had as a teacher. It’s nobody at the college’s fault - it’s a horrendous time, but as program lead I don’t really get a break and I am beat and heartbroken in ways I cannot put into words.

I think The Pitt might be the best show I have ever watched, by far and away. It’s phenomenal, just absolutely jaw-dropping, heartbreakingly incredible. I learned about the Freedom House Ambulance via The Pitt and I’m in shock that I didn’t know about this before. youtu.be/SvOHFMQRgAY?...

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.
