My grandma’s having heart surgery today. Valve replacement (and an angioplasty last Monday). She’s one of my favorite people on the planet.

Working on a cookbook for my college this summer and the food photography and cooking has been so much fun.

Strawberry custard pie. For my mother. It’s amazing. Next time I’ll thicken the custard just a bit more. But as a whole this was amazing.

Tucker James turns 10 today … and it’s the first birthday since Hannah Milo passed away. He’s such a good boy - before Hannah passed, he took such care of his sister, he was so happy-go-lucky, and he loved to bounce. Now he’s much more quiet - the grief remains almost a year later for all of us.

Look at Lucy’s little paw on the window sill! And Tuckie loves his sock. Check out my profile bio @dramypsyd.rmh-therapy.com - your niece and nephew say hi!

Started my seasonal baking last night: homemade apple butter, homemade vanilla extract, Oreo truffles, cream cheese cookies, oatmeal cranberry cookies, sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate bark. Still more to go but I think I made a good start.

As one of approximately 30 goals I set for Nov. 1 - Dec. 20, I wanted to write 30,000 words in November related to the community journalism research and project that is my life’s work.

Lucy is okay now and has escaped back to her outside preferences and I’m taking the time to deep clean the porch. And I’m 100% sure my Hannah Milo is laughing somewhere in doggy heaven at me.

I spent all morning trying to find the meowing cat and after moving all the furniture, I finally flipped the couch over and pulled her out of the couch framing.

If folks could send their prayers to Hannah Milo, I’d greatly appreciate it. Her arthritis recently got way worse and her cushings seems to be getting worse too (waiting for test results). My baby girl’s only 8 and I want more time with her.

My rescue littermate babies were extra cuddly overnight and it was very cute. I’ve had to travel for work/family stuff a lot this summer and it’s been tough on them. Unfortunately Hannah (the black dog) is pretty sick and likely in the last part of her life.
