Donald Trump is the opposite of a Tall Poppy to his followers. Rather than being challenged by someone being exceptional, it is comforting that he is fatter, lazier, more petty, more racist, more ignorant, and dumber than they are. If he can be stick it to the establishment, then in so can they.

I was listening to the latest episode of the BBC's Americast about the latest crazy shit to come out of the Trump clown show; the Tylanol farce? It occurred to me that it's just about power; they resent anyone outside their own group having power - in this case, experts, doctors, scientists, etc.

(1/4) It's interesting how we are always surprised and scandalised when a member of a minority aligns with the right wing and treats people of a similar background to themselves just like any other vicious parasite.

Unpopular Opinion: The USA has always been this bad - it's just that it was usually exported rather than keeping it onshore. The population has been gaslit for the last two hundred years into believing they live in "the land of the free", rather than "the land of you have to be rich to be free".
