Did you know that before Nixon and Reagan, health insurance companies in America were non-profit? Yep, they screamed about "socialized medicine" and gradually shifted the focus of our entire healthcare system from public welfare to... making bucks off illness.

Gotta say if the worst thing that ever happened to you was being forced by the government to take a vaccine during a once a century pandemic you have led a blessed life.

Or you’re a super pussy.

Or both.

Unlike most vaccine-preventable diseases, hepatitis B is asymptomatic and spreads silently until infected people develop liver cancer or cirrhosis in their midlife. It’s one of the cancers with the highest mortality in the U.S with a 6 month life expectancy.

Still buzzing from presenting with Ana Gómez at the #AdvancingSchoolMentalHealthConference. A full room of clinicians curious about #EMDR and how to support students at the nervous-system level.

Grateful to #FamilyServiceRochester for believing in this work and sending me here.

Disappointed to see this. 160 union workers are fighting for a fair contract at Individualized Shirts, a US factory that makes high-end men's button-ups. The managers there have rejected the union's request for fair wages and health insurance. The union is asking for support 🧵

Dear conference speakers,

I get it. I don't like mics either, but you actually do need them when the room gets larger.

You're probably not going to say anything as loud nor enunciated as clearly as, "can you all hear me? I don't need this mic do i?"

You do.

Reminder that Starbucks’ CEO made 6,666x more than the company's median employee in 2024.

This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.

And we're supposed to believe Starbucks can't afford to bargain a fair contract with its unionized workers?

It’s not a stretch to say that my former political party is now firmly pro-Russia/pro-Putin. Not a stretch at all. It’s traitorous, but it’s true. Look, the leader of my former political party works for Putin. He’s on Putin’s side. Always has been. And the party has followed him.

Just a quiet, sad little PSA.

If someone is estranged from their parents, please please don’t give them the ‘but they’re your mum/ dad’

They were their mum / dad when they did the worst imaginable things to their own kids.

It’s not up to the children to make it ok. It’s up to them to live well.

Physician burnout has NOTHING to do with their strength or resilience. We ask them to be present for some of the most traumatic things a human body can experience or witness and then move onto the next like its regular. It isn't regular. We humans aren't built like that.

As a non-physician, but someone who worked inpatient floors during COVID, I know we need you.

Doctors work so hard to specialize, miss out on so much, and take on so much debt to follow their dream speacialty, but then get stuck there.

We MUST destigmatize mental health, and EMDR can help you.
Via @nhassanein.bsky.social and @stateline.org: Advocates say destigmatizing mental health care for doctors is paramount as the nation grapples with a shortage of health care workers and physicians consider leaving the field, driven by burnout and chronic overload.

There’s a difference between being “on” and being present. Most physicians I work with can stay on for days. Presence is what disappears first.

📌 She made the final call to defy a court order to halt deportation flights, sending people into the hellscape of CECOT, a place the UN has compared to a torture chamber.
