theres so much well written smut in the world which is the thing that kinda pisses me off lol. like why do you settle for this garbage. why does it have to be presented like Divergent or whatever for it to appeal to you

12 Angry Men was first an hour long teleplay and it was such a success that it got adapted into the feature length film we know and love. So did Palme d’Or winner Marty.

They had the opportunity to explore themes that Hollywood, still under the Hays code and finding its way after the Paramount antitrust verdict, was scared to touch. The networks hadn’t figured out syndication or reruns yet so there was a lot of room for fresh creative voices to develop.

That’s what’s in the box set! They’re mostly about an hour long minus commercials, were performed live in one take, and recorded only with a film camera squared up to the TV (called a kinescope). They’d run a new teleplay every week on shows like Kraft Television Playhouse.

I think badly written smut has always been popular, it’s just that it was cordoned off from “real” literature. Once it became okay for major publishers to get in on it - or once the internet made it so you don’t have to go through a major publisher - of course it took off.

Are any of these in there? I have the box set, enjoyed what I’ve seen so far but still need to finish it.
