This is very good. I like to remind people that headlines in the 80s would (regularly!) talk about people who drank lattes or ate sushi as exotic, self-indulgent yuppies with obscure tastes. Media constantly made fun of “haute cuisine” meals with tiny portions because fine dining was bad.
This is actually quite brilliant, up to and including the final sentence 🔥

I have to say, the REM is so fantastic, it's going to make the Eglinton Crosstown feel even more like a let down. Ironically, the Eglinton stations seem a lot more impressive, but the REM is just so fast, frequent and high capacity by comparison.

I really hope CDPQ does more . . .

Selon les médias US, la Maison Blanche n'a pas aimé, mais alors pas du tout, le partage de ces images.

Si dans les prochaines heures, Trump annonce des frais douaniers punitifs contre le Japon, au moins on ne sera pas surpris 😉

#Canada just committed to building high-speed rail.

This could be transformative: 18 million people live in the Quebec City-Toronto corridor, where electric 300 km/h (186 mph) trains will run on dedicated tracks.

Toronto to Montreal in 3 hours, Toronto-Ottawa in 2, Ottawa-Montreal in 50 minutes

One thing that kinda blows my mind:

I spoke to national French-language media all morning about this. I did three separate interviews before 10am.

I was interviewed for the U.S. publication WIRED about it.

But English-language Canadian media? Crickets.

It’s just so odd!
Hi. I’m Rachel.

My name is first on the website the North American far-right is using to target people they say “celebrated” Charlie Kirk’s death.

There’s just one problem: I never did that.

But the people sending me threats don’t seem to care.

Let me tell you, in my own words, what happened:

Yves Engler says his account was compromised and that the other account is not his.

I appreciate the clarification, because what that account was saying about me was gross.

Still deeply unimpressed about Yves' decision to go on the podcast of the anti-LGBTQ disinformation peddler Jackson Hinkle.

Rachel, this account was compromised after the post was made this morning.

I'm sorry for the miscommunication. I'll begin deleting the unauthorised replies.

I can confirm that the post from this morning was not made by anyone associated with the Yves Engler campaign.

That account never had any association with the campaign at all. It appears to be a troll account.

It's come to our attention that this account has been compromised today.

The back and forth communications that this account has been engaged in are not coming from the campaign team.

We are working to re-establish control of the account. I'm sorry for any confusion that this has caused.
