Proud to announce that I am - in the words of @classicslatin.bsky.social - a "Shark Mama"!

There's an oceanic whitetip swimming around the ocean oblivious to the fact that I'm now their Mum. But I know they're my child! #bigsharkpledge #sharktrust

Thankyou for a fin-tastic Xmas pressie!

This is exactly what I find so fascinating about reading ancient works—discovering how similar we are to humans across time. Great collection of translated ancient tablets:
For me, the most incredible artefacts from the ancient world are the letters people wrote on clay tablets and sent to one another over thousands of years in Mesopotamia, going back to more than 5,000 years ago.

They contain recognisable humanity, warmth and humour. Here's a thread of my favourites.

A lovely piece of evidence of baby talk from Ancient Rome, Varro (ap. Non. 81, 4), babies had their own words for not just Mummy (mamma) and Daddy (tata), but also food and drink. "cum cibum ac potionem buas ac papas vocent, matrem mammam, patrem tatam" 1/3

A mummy portrait from #Roman Egypt, depicting a young woman/girl. She is shown wearing several pieces of jewellery, some of which is picked out in gold. We don't know when she lived or died - but it is still amazing to look into the eyes of a real person from the ancient world 🏺 AncientBlueSky

My little pup had w/e at vet. She ate naproxen. Drips, anti-dotes, 24hrs observation but she’s home now. All clear.

I can’t stop watching her sleep, just as I did my babies. Love her.

Anyway, apologies now this is why I’m tired and grumpy tomorrow. 🤦‍♀️

Been pondering this one for a while. Think I have solved it. Rest of world defines juice as "the liquid obtained from or present in fruit or vegetables". Scottish people define juice as any soft drinks, fizzy or flat! So this Peach Fanta bought and drunk in Scotland does contain juice! 😄

Sure, I go to the library for books, but also sometimes I go just to exist in a space that's welcoming, organized, comfortable, judgement-free, and run by knowledgeable, helpful people, because that energy is straight up medicinal.
