Oxford University Press has chosen “rage bait” as its 2025 Word of the Year. The open-compound word, which beat out “biohack” and “aura farming,” goes back at least to 2002. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/30/a...

At a Christmas catch up with old friends at the Queen’s Arms Pimlico, and across the street was this fabulous tree all dressed up in lights. Just so bright and lovely.
Altogether now: City sidewalks pretty sidewalks.

At church with the Bishop of London who is encouraging us to connect with others even through the use of social media.
So happy Sunday everyone! Hope you also have sunshine and blue sky.

Hear the truth. Pen Farthing was accused of putting pets before people during the evacuation of Afghanistan. Nothing could be further from the truth. Come hear the man himself tell you what really happened.

There are some great lines in this:

Was charmed by Alastair Campbell comparing campaigning is to governing as poetry is to prose.

Maybe I could be the next James Bond. I’m very similar to Bond, in that I first appeared more than fifty years ago, I fuck up a lot of expensive gadgets, and I’m totally unrealistic.

We made the news! With thanks to the SWLondoner for covering our events.
We're trying to bring people together to engage with difficult ideas and problems. It's supportive and edgy at the same time.
Last night's was excellent and I'm looking forward to our next.

This shows the extent to which the BBC has been politically interfered with and how. It was a thoughtful, patient and well executed take-down.

It's not just that the BBC made a mistake, it's that it was such a stupid mistake. I heard Alistair Campbell say it was likely done by a poorly trained young journalist.
Nope, not buying that one.

The fact that the BBC has made serious culpable errors does not negate the point that there is a real and concerted right-wing media campaign to destroy it. Both points can be true at the same time and the campaign would not end even if the errors did.

I can always tell when I'm editing a manuscript if the author is a reader or not. In no instance, has the non-reader produced a superior work.
Ironically, I can't really put it into words how I know or what the difference is. I just do know.

Join us tonight at #Clapham Omnibus to discuss #digitalsafety #smartphones and the internet. And how best to protect ourselves and our children.
Australia has banned #socialmedia for under 16s (which I quite like as a solution). Should we?
Schools are banning phones altogether. Should families?
