Is there a trope name for the thing where you’re in someone’s POV and they learn, discover, remember, or think of something and it’s all “aha, I had solved the problem” but you as a reader don’t get to find out what the solution is even though by the rules of POV you should? #booksky

Katie, on the other hand, knows facts and can accurately answer factual questions.
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

ALANNA THE LIONESS Book #1 comes out today, and I cannot express how blessed I feel to be on this team.

@sambeckdraws.bsky.social is a damn rockstar, being her collaborator is such a thrill!

Josh Reed's letters are perfection!

Andrea Miller's design of the book is what dreams are made of!

I guess the NYT is off my list of potential news sources to support. If anyone has a suggestion for a solid publication with in-depth reporting that acknowledges the humanity of trans people, I’m interested.

Either transgender Americans are important enough to warrant year after year of breathless coverage questioning their healthcare and existence, or they're so insignificant that destroying their rights is the "least consequential" action of a presidency. www.readtpa.com/p/not-exactl...

After years of trans panic coverage, the paper now claims attacks on trans rights barely matter.

Sounds like Trump could actually do something about egg prices, and is choosing not to.
Profits of the biggest egg suppliers are now about 200x what they were the quarter before the bird flu outbreak

GOOD NEWS ALERT!
I am so excited to tell you all that the Fashion Act has been introduced in California!
We have been working in NY for more than a year to make this happen. Adding CA to the list is a big win

I wish more people were talking about egg prices as less of a “muh egg prices!” thing and more about the fact that there is an organized egg cartel that is illegally price gouging and almost certainly illegally price fixing and reaping massive, gigantic profits.

People vehemently believe that there are safety nets in place if you become disabled. That no matter what, you have all of your needs met. If you believe this, you’re in for a rude awakening if you ever become disabled.

I urge cis allies to read through this thread. Even if you don't agree with this interpretation (that the sudden spike in interest is a bad sign that journalists are aware of more anti-trans actions coming that are not publicly known yet), understand how scared we are right now:
I'm hearing in recent days there's an unusually intense spike in US journalists, after a long time of disinterest, now seeking comment in great numbers from leading US trans activists, organizers, writers and commentators on the present political situation. This is alarming for a variety of reasons.

The question isn’t IF climate change is making extreme weather worse—it’s how much.

Science can put a number on how many more homes flood, how much more rain a hurricane dumps, how much larger wildfires grow--and how much worse it will get if we don't act now.
