For the #weekwithoutdriving I wanted to share a pic of our car: this summer we started putting little green leaf stickers on the car to celebrate every time with didn't drive it, when we biked or walked or took the bus instead. We're hoping to cover the whole car. :)

#Trumpflation is going to hit us all hard as we will all have to pay for rising electric power costs.
Your power bill going up isn't because of more use in your household, it's because of the Billionaire Tech Oligarchs!

They are using the American public to subsidize the power costs of their MASSIVE AI data centers.

Just a friendly reminder that Covid is no fun at all, and if you're feeling ill, please get tested. I'm sincerely hoping that we can all get new boosters soon to protect each other. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

We need to stop using a framework of 'ChatGPT killed someone', it feeds into the myth of the system's agency & OpenAI's framing. The right framework to use: OpenAI is continuing to perpetuate an indefinite industrial disaster. The oil pipe is not at fault when it breaks. The company that built it is

Just saw this wildly disturbing advertisement for GalaxyAI, and I'm curious what highlights in your own timeline has enlarged your social circle? Making music/theater have been big ones for me, as well as education (mine and my kid's) and church. Recently also makerspaces and the library.
This isn't the most problematic use for generative AI, but it's up there.

A lot of bad shit is going to go down because lonely idiots decided to make a sycophantic imaginary friend their only confidant.

OTOH, some of this might be replacing going on super-toxic communities for self-affirmation.

Once you see it, you can't unsee forced car dependency.

Cars have degraded our entire economy, environment, culture, and lives. Forced car dependency makes us poorer, less healthy, and less connected to our neighbors.

The first step of a cure is to recognize that we have a car problem.
“The United States, with its enormous highways, sprawling suburbs and neglected public transport systems, is one of the most car-dependent countries in the world. But this arrangement of obligatory driving is making many Americans actively unhappy, new research has found.”

How extreme car dependency is driving Americans to unhappiness
A car is often essential in the US but while owning a vehicle is better than not for life satisfaction, a study has found, having to drive too much sends happiness plummeting
