47 people were injured in Liverpool. Four of them were children. And the far-right’s first instinct?

Blame brown people.

When the facts didn’t fit, they pivoted - because outrage is the point.

On narrative control, culture wars, and what this tells us about the populist playbook:
What the Liverpool Attack Tells Us About the New Culture War
The populist right's response wasn’t about victims - it was about narrative control. And it’s becoming their only move.

Liz Kendall just lied again about how many people will be hit by DWP PIP cuts

Kendall has again rolled out the figure that only 10% of DWP PIP claimants will be hit with cuts by 2028/29 - a statement that is a gross distortion of the reality

As usual, there’s a lot of panic about the UK-EU trade deal, so I’ve taken the time to write an FAQ.

It covers what the trade deal actually does (and doesn’t), why the outrage is mostly theatre, why the fish are still fine, and no - Ursula von der Leyen is not your supreme overlord.

No-one’s stolen our fish. No laws were imposed by Brussels. This is what happens when a grown-up government tries to fix the mess the last one left behind.

There aren't enough hospices in the UK, and they are woefully underfunded. Today, MPs voted to reject an opt-out clause for hospices in Leadbeater’s Assisted Dying Bill. Clearly, the official Govt & NHS answer to hospice underfunding is to force hospices to offer assisted suicide to their patients.

Our member, a care home manager, was asked today to estimate how many disabled residents might be eligible for medically-assisted suicide under the Leadbeater bill and how many places might be freed-up if the option was 'assertively marketed'. Is this the future you want in England?

First the Tories, and now Labour, tried to bury an explosive report which shows that disabled people quite literally need PIP to survive - and that they're not getting it 'coz of TikTok'

Keir Starmer denies pushing anti-migrant policies in order to chase Reform, saying that "I'm doing this because it is right, because it is fair and because it is what I believe".

A reminder of what he said he believed when he was running for Labour leader.

Labour has a whopping great majority and four years left to turn this country around.

They should be setting the agenda, not chasing about trying to placate voters of a party with five MPs who will never vote for them anyway.

It's not only disappointing... it's embarrassing

The needs of disabled and older people for care workers must override any party political need to appear tough on migration. Leaving real disabled and older people without care purely to send political prejudice signals is completely unacceptable.
