Grading should be about mastery of the subject being taught. Putting everyone on a normal distribution is fundamentally unfair.
People spend way time worrying about whether students are getting too many A's and not enough time considering the possibility that people who busted ass so hard that they got into a place like that might be the kind to be high achieving

Too many FACULTY think grading is about breaking people, too

Native history is often treated like a tragic, distant chapter of the American story & the legal terrain it created like a siloed, backwater of American law. But it is foundational. Not knowing this history is like not knowing you have cancer. One day it will take over.

Stop comparing #AlligatorAlcatraz to Nazi concentration camps. The U.S. gov has built concentration camps before.
What Trump is doing is not un-American. The worst things he could do are things our government has already done.

What will you pledge?

Trump bombing Iran was illegal and unjustified.

I ran for Congress to make sure our leaders consider the true costs of war.

And I will be in the Senate, standing on my titanium legs, demanding answers from Trump.

If you think it can’t happen here, remember that it already did. In 1942 soldiers came with rifles to our home and ordered us out. They put us in internment camps. Most of us were citizens.

It becomes frustrating to see elementary and middle schools refusing to implement the consistent evidence that the pathway to literacy travels through authentic reading and writing in content…social studies and science.
“There’s a lot of evidence that having knowledge about the world is important for reading comprehension…Students who have broader bases of knowledge about the natural & social world do better on reading assessments, even when controlling for other things.” #sschat www.edweek.org/teaching-lea...
Middle Schools Often Prioritize English and Math Over Other Subjects. Should They?
An Illinois district is equalizing time across the four major content areas. But the decision comes with trade-offs.

The Constitution doesn’t give rights to Presidents. It gives rights to the people. The very fact that she started there shows the dangerously unconstitutional mindset we’re seeing in action now.
With regard to Lincoln, his suspension (not use) of habeus corpus was quite controversial.
HASSAN: What is habeas corpus?

NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country

HASSAN: That's incorrect

The community of Allentown hid the Liberty Bell from a hostile invasion from 1777 to 1668.

The new EO targets Independence NHP by name.

Just sayin’…we could lift up those floorboards again…

These institutions are and must be dedicated to telling the history of US- all of us.

Stand with them!

“Just because you do not take an interest in politics does not mean that politics will not bother with you.” (Pericles)
I agree with this. Waiting to be "inspired" is turning the responsibility to vote into a consumer process.
One more thing: we tend to accept as legitimate people’s excuses for not voting because our culture take seriously the idea that politicians must inspire us — if they don’t, we can’t be bothered.

That makes democracy as trivial as buying a car. And that’s why we are where we are.
