Things that delight me: disenshittification, ballet, horror, strange dark mindbending art/stories, slow melancholy films, shoegaze, trip hop.

Things that disgust me: scrum, licorice, fascism.

The first response to suffering should be to check what issues in the socioeconomic system are causing it.
I don't think "mental health conditions are being over-diagnosed" but that "real suffering is being over-medicalised". These are very different things. The former tries to justify cutting support, but the latter does not: it acknowledges real suffering but asks for different (psychosocial) provision

It's like how Covid wiped out small businesses and consolidated wealth for major chains who could afford to ride it out. The Altman RAM shortage can wipe out small shops doing on-prem, small web-hosts, indie dev shops, small ISPs.

More market control to giants like Google, Amazon, Microsoft.
Important to note that the reason RAM is more expensive isn't because OpenAI is ransacking store shelves and buying all the retail stock.

They aren't using those. Instead "AI" companies dumped an insane amount of money on RAM manufacturers to tie up their production lines with parts "AI" needs.

The word "individualism" is such a euphemism. It's an ideology that favours some individuals at the expense of the others.

"Selectivism" would be an accurate word for what people call "individualism."

All I want is to purchase services on the web that I trust. That don't make me nervous that they're spying on me, designing their UI to manipulate me, or extracting excessive payments in return for a shoddy enshittified product.

It's so depressing that this has become incredibly hard to find.

We need solidarity to overcome oligarchs, but "big tent" isn't that. If we throw some groups under the bus, we play into the hands of their Divide and Conquer strategy. Solidarity means none of us are left behind, which is what makes us stand strong together.

I think there is a miscommunication happening.

When right-wing voters hear "inequality," they think "Some people have more status and luxury than others."

When left-wing voters hear "inequality," they think "Some people have power and leverage to harm or control others."

Lots of talk about how people don't know what communism is, but it's really amazing how many people don't know what capitalism is even though they live in it.

So many people seem to think it means "markets exist" or "you're allowed to choose your career" or "income in proportion to merit."

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Many with anxiety or depression are anti-authoritarians. A major pain of their lives is fear that their contempt for illegitimate authorities will cause them to be financially and socially marginalized; but they fear that compliance will cause them existential death.

I've seen manosphere bros trying to make "toxic femininity" a thing and making no sense, mostly because those bros refuse to acknowledge what toxic masculinity actually is.

But this right here is an actual thing you could call toxic femininity.

Friends, the word “radical” comes from the Latin word meaning “root.” To be politically radical does not mean fringe. To be radical is to focus one’s attention on the *roots* of the systems that govern us, such as Capitalism.

Fundamental, systemic change requires radical thinking and action. ✨🌲✨

Weird how people are calling themselves centrists but aren't advocating that around half the means of production be communally run and owned.

Rojava is centrist: agriculture, energy, health and education run by councils but small businesses are still capitalist.

We learn history so we don't repeat the same mistake, but there is one very important thing they forgot to teach us. We might not be in this mess today if history class didn't skip one important part. 🧵
