The reason why some groups love debate is because debates privilege bullshit.

People who listen and reflect before responding, who strive to understand the other's point of view instead of trying to "destroy" them, or who take time to look up facts before making claims - those people lose debates.

I keep trying so hard to get people to stop seeing climate change, poverty, oppression, isolation, widespread abuse/assault - all the bad stuff - as unfortunate consequences of nature. To see that these are all a result of intentional decisions made by people in power.
