I wrote a new piece for foreign policy.

The US's postwar role as guarantor of Europe’s security is over – and may even turn adversarial. But Europe has an overlooked trump card.

When it comes to manufacturing Europe blows the US out of the water.

Thread.

A small unelected, secretive crew now has free access to sensitive private data of everyone.

And Musk is already publicly targeting family members of judges who rule against the administration.

If this isn’t ringing alarm bells, I don’t know what would.

Dear Europe: Stop freaking out over the Trump team and start learning their language. Your current response just plays into Trump and Putin’s hands.

Wrote a short summary of how antagonizing Europe can backfire on the Trump administration, at the expense of US global power.

More on the European side of things when we know more about the results from Paris
The Trump administration should be careful what they wish for

“Europe has clearly overtaken the US in terms of Ukraine aid. In total, Europe has allocated EUR 70 bln in financial & humanitarian aid as well as EUR 62 bln in military aid. This compares to EUR 64 bln in military aid from the US as well as EUR 50 bln in financial & humanitarian allocations.”

Hi All, just sent out my weekend update, free as always. This is arguably the most momentous week in European history since 1991 or even 1945. The US pivoted this week to be a friend of dictators who is forcing unilateral concessions on democracies. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

In today’s Vatnik Soup, I’m going to talk about Europe’s information defense against foreign influence operations & disinformation. The EU can’t rely anymore on America’s help in geopolitical struggles, and it’s time we created a united front against information threats.
