This article is largely preaching to the converted, so Monbiot omits the basic problem that makes climate denial propaganda so powerful. For a long time, this was an invisible crisis that required the public to understand scientific theory. Deniers used emotional language first, and used it better.
Climate breakdown is driven by a storm of lies. This lying is systemic, funded and coordinated, and operates across almost all media, old and new.
This week's column argues that we cannot fight the climate crisis without also fighting the epistemic crisis.

The fundamental problem is this: that most of the means of communication are owned or influenced by the very rich, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?

not just the animators, even the editor of this short video has already achieved something that no slop generating person could ever hope to match.

it also reminds me a lot of this beautiful piece from years ago:

In other news, I sat down with a sketchbook and ended up noodling keyframes for a thing I've been writing with my brother and I'm EXCITED about it.

Today is reset day. All the building fallout, laundry, food shopping, recycling. Accounts. We’re definitely in a new chapter, even if the building work is still ongoing. One house is sorted, gym can resume, painting can resume. Writing can resume. Might even see other humans at some point!

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.
