Engagement KPIs have been responsible for infinite scroll UI traps, RecSys radicalization spirals, public shame brigades, and basically every modern ailment novel to the past decade. At some point, you have to recognize that the problem isn't any one technology, it's the metric.
The company essentially turned a dial that made ChatGPT more appealing and made people use it more, but sent some of them into delusional spirals.

OpenAI has since made the chatbot safer, but that comes with a tradeoff: less usage.

So taking out churn (~4,000) and assuming $12 monthly revenue per user (I assume this is low) and the average user that cancelled would stay for 9 months (again, assume this is low) they lost $189.1 MILLION conservatively for flushing their reputation down the toilet. What a disastrous business move
SCOOP / UPDATE — Disney saw more than 1.7 million total paid streaming cancelations during the period 9/17-9/23, a Disney source confirms to me. The total includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN.
NEW — I wrote about my confirmed scoop from last night that Disney hastened Kimmel's return because of a planned Disney+ streaming price increase announcement coming on Tuesday:

Hey #MECFS and #LongCovid community. We have a patient here in Minnesota that is suffering from temporary paralysis after a bad MCAS reaction to new medication.

Has anyone else heard of this? The doctors are stumped. Need the communities help!

There is information hidden in absence, where nothing is something & where 0 helps us understand everything that isn't something. 0 is an eccentric outlier, a numeral like the rest but one which blows up math. There is a lot of power in the empty set, even crows & monkeys recognise it's numerosity.

Can self-actualisation be sub-contracted to a machine? I used to worry about automation bias. But DEVO analysed it already "Freedom of choice is what you got, freedom from choice is what you want". A choice needs alternatives, which requires imagination. But many will gladly opt for the magic 8 ball

“Not This Day…” is my new motto for my life with #LC & #MECFS.

Today is not the day to give up. Keep fighting. Keep trying to get better.

Today is not the day to do the things I love and want to do - because I want to get better - but I won’t let loss define me.
