For the time-being, many of the political news stories I share will have comments closed. I want to continue to share the stories as a service and FYI to other news junkies here but don't want negative energy in my comments right now. Apologies and thanks for understanding.
Tonight my spouse said to me, "You listened to a lot of Seger today but I didn't hear Shame on the Moon. Katmandu is a B-side but no Shame on the Moon?"

I was shocked my young man husband was so knowledgeable about Seger. I questioned him.

"He was on Dance Fever a lot."

Dear reader, I love him.

If you want to turn a $1000 investment into $1,000,000 practically overnight, simply donate that $1000 to Doug Ford's Conservatives and apply for an Ontario Skills Development grant.

"Scapegoat politics".

This is quite the statement. I'd love to know who's doing the crisis communications here.

NEW: A statement from Keel on the forensic audit forwarded to OPP accuses the government of conflating skills development funds with other payments so officials can "avoid answering legitimate questions" by pointing to the investigation. #onpoli

Carney’s ‘nation building projects’ “include mines and natural gas export, [and] heavily favour investment in a resource-based economy that falls short on projects that…could change the day-to-day lives of Canadians – and reimagine the country’s future.”

Great Star story.

"the Carpenters council leaders praised Ford in Progressive Conservative campaign literature, endorsing the premier for re-election"

Despite a score of only 52% on the proposal, they got $14M.

Taxpayer-funded payback for friends of Ford and the PCs?

We're seeing lots of stories now with MDs urging Ontarians to get vaccinated. You know who we're not seeing in those stories? Ontario's public health leader, Kieran Moore.

He was quoted in a news release but has had no media availability. He should be playing a key role in promoting vaccination.

Once again, @brucearthur.bsky.social played the role of the media in a war games exercise undertaken to test Canada's readiness for a global conflict.

In 2024, this same exercise seemed rather abstract. How the world has changed in a year.

"A government needs to know when to walk away, to break a promise even. Not only would a deal with Trump be subject to sudden dismantling, the cost of securing one — what Canada would have to give up — is unlikely to be worth the expected returns."

Imagine we had an ambitious, integrated industrial strategy that aims at decoupling economic growth from emissions across all sectors and policies, based on a Canadian Green Deal framework.

We could maybe join this list of 35 countries at some point.

The world’s carbon emissions continue to rise. But 35 countries show progress in cutting carbon
In 2025 the world has fallen short, again, of peaking and reducing its fossil fuel use. But there are many countries on a path to greener energy.

With the exception of the NB tungsten mine, these referrals seem simply to advance existing projects by a few years. They seem to reflect a belief that Canada was already on its way to becoming more independent from the US but wasn’t moving fast enough.
It’s a very status quo view of the world.
