Also, you do understand that because of continuing stigma, individuals in the HIV community are uniquely unable to speak out to address this issue, right? Many people keep their HIV D/X private to protect employment, housing, etc.

You're saying an individual can't speak for a community but did the paper authors consult with any organizations or leaders in the HIV/AIDS community abt the use of the term? If an individual must consult "the community at large", shouldn't the authors have done the same with such fraught language?

Did you consult anyone in the HIV/AIDS community (Anyone at all? Name even one.) before gratuitously using AIDS' trauma & stigma to get attention? It's exploitive & entitled. And it increases HIV stigma, which harms people living with HIV.

Also, the Alberta government's statement that starts with "We continue to promote vaccination..." is maddening because they are implicitly discouraging vaccination against Covid. A government discouraging a vaccine has a knock-on effect on receptivity to ALL vaccines.
