Paul Blest from national advocacy outlet More Perfect Union, decided to take a closer look. Fryeburg and Denmark make monthly water withdrawal reports publicly available …during September, Poland Spring was taking more water from both places than it did in September the two previous years.

How a Maine food bank feeds 1,100 families a week
Demand at the food bank is higher than ever, thanks to changes to SNAP and higher grocery prices, but hundreds of volunteers are determined to feed everyone who needs help.

More from Oct Challenger Job Cuts:

Retail layoffs jumped 145% YTD to nearly 89,000, reflecting cost pressures, weak consumer demand, and store closures.

Nonprofits saw a staggering 419% increase in layoffs, mostly tied to lost government funding (“DOGE Downstream Impact”).

The master developer seems intent on commercializing former District Hall (new name "Seaport Innovation Center") and making it permanent rather than reverting to the lot's planned and currently-zoned use as part of Seaport Common.

Not on my watch. We need an urban forest, gardens, courts and more.
Name "District Hall" has been retired. No Google maps. Website districthallboston.org is gone.

What the master developer wants everyone to forget is that land on which District Hall sits was and remains zoned as a 👉🏽PUBLIC PARK👈🏽 with a temporary structure on top, until 2033.

People with cash to blow don’t ask, “where are the meaningful public and civic spaces for those without wallets?”

Or “why am I enjoying an outdoor market and beer garden on paved lots already permitted for two office towers?

Even the pickleball courts are $50/hour.
Retail shops on Seaport Square Block F are getting a makeover.

Block F was planned and permitted as a public park (Seaport Common).

Rather than complete Seaport Common as promised, now under construction for 11 years, why bother when profits are Job #1 and no one cares? 💰

A little more trivia for you.

Seaport Square’s Project Notification Form (2008) included a permanent branch of Boston Public Library.

BPDA allowed that commitment to evaporate upon approving the 2010 PDA. In its place? District Hall, a temporary building built on public park space.
District Hall, shuttered since 2023, was heralded in 2013 as a civic masterwork, the “Library of the 21st Century.”

It’s temporary, built on land planned and zoned as a public park (part of Seaport Common).

The master developer wants YOU to believe it’s on a buildable lot.

Translation: We really don't give a shit about you or your input. An attitude demonstrated in December 2024, trashing a long-planned amphitheater and replacing it with an abject mediocrity that won't survive sea level rise.

Not one substantive conversation since Dir Jemison left. I get it, BPDA.
As BPDA races P&G Gillette’s banal 31-acre master plan to BPDA board, BPDA now sees fit to have those engaged attend eight (8) hours of meetings in the next two weeks.

2 community meetings and 2 IAG meetings, 2 hours each, in a 2 week period.

For a 20-tower zoning process? Nothing to see here.
