According a statement from the Cook County Sheriff's Office, the Illinois State Police conducted 14 of the 15 arrests from yesterday's ICE facility protests in Broadview, all for resisting or disobeying police. Broadview PD conducted the remaining arrest for disorderly conduct.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov you WILL lose your momentum if you do not address this situation. Stop greasing the wheels of ICE operations in Broadview in the name of protecting protestors. You are enabling kidnapping. Protestors are willing to take risks to stop these horrors. Are you?
@govpritzker.illinois.gov, Illinois State Police are aiding and abetting the vile actions of ICE agents. WHAT WILL YOU DO TO STOP THIS?
Troopers just violently attacked protesters, tackled several, several arrests, shoving activists and press with batons.

It would seriously be hard to describe how much the crowd was NOT doing anything to warrant being attacked—not impeding anyone, not being violent, really not doing much of anything. At one point ICE just suddenly decided it was time to open the gates and unleash Hell.

This a beautiful and accurate recount of what these past weeks have been like.
As ICE continues to terrorize Chicagoland, protesters gathered this morning outside the Broadview detention center—throwing stuffed animals at DHS agents, playing music through tear gas assaults, and putting their bodies on the line to stop ICE vehicles. My latest.

The situation at Broadview isn't over. A small number of protesters reportedly still facing off with the feds in the dark, people have been coming and going. It's impossible to be there 24/7 to monitor but we'll get back over there as soon as we can tomorrow.

I have participated in the Broadview protests for the last three Fridays. Each week ICE has been more aggressive…but the protests are having an affect. ICE has been forced to change their normal movement times and have erected an illegal fence around the facility to keep protestors out…

Seems like misdirection is kind of their whole thing, fam. Very odd scoop from a very odd source.

Even if it turns out to be true—

1) ICE moving detainees somewhere potentially more isolated/difficult to get to isn't a win
&
2) The facility isn't "closing," just temporarily diverting operations
Folks there is no actual evidence ICE is evacuating their detention facility in Chicago the source is literally the Huffington Post claiming they've seen "communications" they won't publish stop pushing this at the very least until we get literally any confirmation

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

Yeah, no joke. Tear gas and pepper bullets
That was the most aggro I've ever seen the agents. While pushing to get vehicles out, agents grabbed at least 2 people. Multiple tear gas cannisters deployed and pepper balls fired into the crowd.

We’re protesting outside the Broadview ICE facility and an agent came out to tell us to go away.

We said we’re exercising our First Amendment rights so he shot the ground with pepper balls and said, “Your First Amendment rights are on the sidewalk.”
