The amount of money Canadian companies spent on timeslots and celebrities just to put out absolutely awful commercials during the World Series was shocking. TD, Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, Tim Hortons - was there no money left for creative?

Hearing #yyc pharmacies were given very limited numbers of Covid vaccines and sold out immediately. Family had shots booked this afternoon at a pharmacy but apparently neighbors were just given a refund because they had no vaccines left. #ableg

I'm going to terrify my neighbors by dressing up as blanket rezoning. Or maybe a parking meter.

When you look at the mix of councilors elected, the results of the #yyccc election are far from a clear ant-blanket zoning mandate. It was only ever a nightmare to those who already own a home, and who's biggest fear in life is finding (free) parking. calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu...
Nelson: Rolling back Calgary's rezoning nightmare is new council's litmus test
Calgarians have finally seen the back of the Jyoti Gondek-led council. But citizens shouldn't rejoice yet. The new lot could be as bad.

Two Years on a Cargo Bike. @cailynn.bsky.social makes a great point here on e-cargo bikes (and e-bikes in general). Thought of as occasional or recreational use case, they are pricey. The math changes fast however if they start replacing vehicle trips. #yycbike gooutside.substack.com/p/two-years-...

I saw lots of people turn away at the polls yesterday when they were told it was a 1 hour plus wait. That is the only explanation for such a low turnout in an election that had an anti-incumbent theme and a fairly rare wide-open mayoral race. #yyccc #ableg

Even at the most ambitious "Drill, baby, drill" projections for production growth, oil and gas jobs will likely decline in the province. And of course ~WTI in the $50's won't be helpful.
This is quite the statistic. As oil sands development matures, it will take fewer people to run things. AI and offshoring will only exacerbate this trend. (see Imperial recent announcement) #yyccc #ableg #oott

Downtown #yyc office vacancy edges down slightly. Office-residential conversions helped remove inventory, but was largely offset by O&G mergers lowering occupancy. Hopefully the new #yyccc continues with the progress made on residential conversions.
