It makes me wonder if, since SAVING LIVES didn't work as an argument, keeping insurance rates lower might?
I've filtered Ottawa's traffic collision data to show only collisions with injuries for each year, and then added the speed camera locations present in those years.

It looks like speed cameras have made the roads much safer.

There are two speed cameras on Walkley Rd between Bank and St Laurent that were installed in 2024. In 2022 that stretch of Walkley had 34 collisions with injuries. In 2024, after the cameras were turned on, there were just 4 collisions with injuries. Speed cameras work.

Whatever you do, make sure you observe the maximum height guidelines

Anybody watching #canMNT right now, feel free to laugh at how ludicrous that "injury" was

I cannot believe that Ottawa managed to build an airport "rapid" transit line that is so poor that if you are leaving FROM the OTrain at Rideau Centre, it does not even give you the Light Rail option, because it takes so much longer.

Okay, so, Ryan Reynolds and his crew of nefarious henchmen are trying to steal all the tea from Britain. Only Fozzie Bond can stop him
Specifically Fozzie Bear.
Easy solution: The next James Bond is a Muppet.

The whole delivery economy to me:
- consumers pay more
- restaurants receive less
- workers (often semi-legal migrants) treated poorly

Lose-lose-lose and all for what? So you can get a lukewarm breakfast burrito?
"Doordash’s stock plummeted toward its worst session ever as investors rejected the company’s aggressive spending (as) it plans to shell out several hundred million dollars next year on new product initiatives like autonomous delivery and a new global tech stack." www.cnbc.com/2025/11/06/d...
Doordash stock drops 15%, heads for worst day ever on spending concerns
Doordash has already shelled out billions this year to buy restaurant booking platform SevenRooms and British delivery platform Deliveroo.

@hal.thelastboyscout.uk This is where Jonathan David learned to play (Ottawa)
This is the Canadian Premier League soccer finals and we have a bicycle kick goal in the middle of a blizzard … and that’s the most Canadian thing I’ve ever seen 😂

Avec 400 radars par million d’habitants, le pays détient le record mondial. Résultat : la mortalité sur autoroute a chuté de moitié en cinq ans. Miracle de la répression ou coïncidence ? →https://l.lefigaro.fr/rYpq

Hmmm?
NEW: Trump is asking Supreme Court to act by 9:30pm tonight to block the ruling that requires SNAP payments to be made.

Reminds me of Petain believing the UK could not defeat Germany
Orbán: “The only pro-peace government is the US and Hungary. All the other governments prefer to continue the war because many of them think Ukraine can win…which is a misunderstanding of the situation."

Trump: “You would say Ukraine cannot win that war?”

Orbán: “Miracle can happen.”

I am not a paid subscriber, but I think this encapsulates the argument well. I think the government could get a new pipeline built that uses Canadian steel (Tenaris in the Soo?) and reduces reliance on the US. KXL is neither.

Like a zombie, Keystone XL just won’t die; the pipeline is simply too symbolically important to ‘rest in peace’, but even in theory it’s a mixed bag for Canada versus the alternatives.

I have nothing to say about the actual argument, but this approach to any cause drives me up the wall. You are explicitly excluding anyone who is not 100% orthodox with your belief set. It turns people off from your movement. We need to be willing to accept compromises in thought sometimes.
