Pre-orders are great because sometimes a parcel turns up from Waterstones and I have no idea what it is. Present from past me.

Especially nice as today's is the conclusion to a trilogy I've been very much enjoying.

I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while: here’s @davidheb.bsky.social on the incomparable Nina Allan’s latest, A Granite Silence:

“In her latest novel, Allan turns her attention to a historical murder case: The many worlds that spiral out from one tragic event.”

Just found out the orchestral performance of the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 soundtrack is coming to London and this has made my fucking day.

It is only with great restraint that the office isn't getting full "COOOOOULLEEEEEUURSS EMBRASÉEEEESSSSS" from me.

Penultimate chat about Fellowship of the Ring done. Writing it up aside, there's just three more chapters before we reach the end of this close read, and honestly it's been fucking great. Extremely recommend as an experience.

I said this and then read two extremely sad chapters of LotR because I’m a fool
Ok whatever I'm planning to read next, it's not going to be clifi and it's absolutely not going to make me cry. Two of those in two months is quite enough thank you.

Reading Lothlórien/The Mirror of Galadriel and hoo boy do he love him some elves. Like, I knew this, but still.

Apparently I’m incapable of reading LOTR without a cup of tea on hand. It just feels wrong somehow.
