Hey transit-friendly lawmakers: Illinois Policy said last week, "True fiscal stability requires reform, not just more revenue." You should use "No revenue without reform!" as your slogan.

Oh, that *was* your slogan and the bill that passed has lots of reforms? 🙃

ICYMI: Great discussion yesterday of Myron Levin's film "Power Trip" about how media encourages deadly driving, followed by a fire pit hangout with SBC readers.

Read Cameron Bolton's interview with the director.

LOL, finally got a rise out of these right-wing goofballs.

Read our previous coverage of their almost-always-wrong transportation and development coverage (with an occasional "even a broken clock is right twice a day" incident).

For those who are coming for the bike ride to the movie today, Daley Plaza is fenced off for the holiday market, so John is hanging out on the east side of the plaza next to Dearborn Street. we will takeoff a little after 12:30. See others there. Looking forward to spending time with SBC readers!

The Active Transportation Alliance sent us a few more retro photos of Chicago cycling advocacy legend Kathy Schubert, which we've added to this post. At 84, she's retired from biking, but we recently caught up with her for an interview.

People were worried about legendary bike advocate Kathy Schubert, who hadn't been seen at rides or events in years. We're glad to report she's alive and well and (still) living in Lincoln Park. We interviewed her.

Metra ED Jim Derwinski used a fun 🏈 metaphor to discuss the transit reform/funding bill win.

(Prediction: Someone's going to point out that when you're talking about winning something, the Bears are not an ideal example.)

Mainstream publications often call livable streets advocates "bike activists" and "avid cyclists." We've started calling anti-Complete Streets NIMBYs "car activists" and "avid drivers." That will be handy for rebuttals of windshield POV Trib editorials!

ICYMI, an avid driver and his posse say the City should paint bus lanes on Grand (0.3 miles S. of bus lanes on Chicago) instead of installing protected lanes. We used lots of maps, renderings, photos to show why that would be very silly.

The CTA Board approved the draft 2026 budget, and celebrated the transit bill’s passage. Meanwhile, avid motorist Roger Romanelli made a disingenuous Grand Avenue bus lane proposal in order to stop a planned road diet with protected bike lanes. 🚌 🚳
