i wasn't thinking of superm (and seeing in 2020) when i wrote that because it was mostly not shinee/solo material and a whole performance, like even since then my point stands fr, there were sparks flying that i haven't seen in him myself before huhu

i'm totally exhausted, but that post shinee concert buzz is strong in my veins. taemin was /insane/ and what a difference since the last time I saw him in 2017, like the upgrades were palpable and the joy and excitement he felt were clearly powering him. we are so lucky to be able to witness him!!

oh boy... my thursday is going to be rough. i have to take my mum to an appointment at umass which is an hour north of us... then come home, quickly get ready/feed cats and hope that the congestion pricing in nyc will mean it won't take 4 hours to drive to taemin. 😩

Incredible news. After immense pressure and threats of protest, Children's Wisconsin has reinstated treatment for at least one trans teen under its care.

Several hospitals across the country determined their fear of Trump's illegal EO was more important than their trans patients.
UPDATE: Children’s Wisconsin hospital reinstates gender-affirming care for trans teen after canceling in wake of Trump’s executive order
The order is being challenged in court as illegal and unconstitutional.

wired is absolutely on fire, they're meeting the moment. it's worth paying $10 for a subscription right now. everyone i know with a tech background is very aware of how risky this is. it was fun to laugh at the hearings with tech companies and how clueless some of these politicians are but yikes...

Imagine if the entire DC media was reporting on Musk and Trump with the *ferocity* and *velocity* of WIRED these past three weeks.

IMAGINE what we would know now that we don’t.

Major breaking trans news: The ACLU has launched a lawsuit on behalf of 7 transgender people affected by Trump’s passport ban.

Incredible filing. The Trump admin is now swarmed with lawsuits over discriminatory and illegal executive orders.

If the Treasury Secretary does not remove DOGE’s access to the Treasury payment systems at once:

Congress must immediately act.

That is why Rep. Jeffries and I will work together on legislation to stop unlawful meddling in the Treasury Department’s payment systems.

god the internet used to be *good*

you'd clicky-click your way around and wander from webcomic sites to hyper-specific forums to fanfiction aggregators to blogs dedicated to sparkly GIFs with quotes from someone's favourite book

and "social media" was Livejournal blogs and website guest books

If y'all haven't caught on I'm going to annoy the shit out of y'all with examples on how democracy is being fought for and saved on the local level.

I want to unshackle y'all from the thinking that only the national horse race matters.
The GOP in Minnesota tried to steal a state house seat, with the house split evenly.

Lawsuits were filed, and it got kicked up to the state Supreme Court, who sided against the GOP.

Still wild to me that so many "savvy" folks on left and right have bought into the idea that online misinformation is overblown and doesn't really matter. From lies about migrants to transgender people to crime to election denial to climate denial, it's literally driving our country's politics.

His video is appalling to impugn fact checkers like that. He could use all the tools if he actually cared and X is now a toxic waste dump. One thing is true: Fact checking does not work on a platform that cannot be sued and has been built to advantage the liars.
"We're going to get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with community notes, similar to X, starting in the U.S," Mark Zuckerberg announces

He asserts that "the fact-checkers have just been too politically biased, and have destroyed more trust than they've created, especially in the U.S."
