"The fact that JD Vance has openly cited Curtis Yarvin as an inspiration and that Thiel is the person most responsible for creating Vance as a politician should be viewed as a national emergency."

We need to talk about JD
Not nearly enough news coverage has focused on JD Vance's influences and his extreme views.

It’s also got way more in common with the Epstein scandal than you really want to know.

If you live in the Northeast, you're likely paying for high-voltage interconnections for hyperscale data centers. A new study finds that regulatory gaps in that region allow utilities to pass on billions of dollars in costs to consumers.

Those who say "Trump is taking us back to the Gilded Age" are thinking way too small:

He's taking us back to a pre-Magna-Carta world.

For all their talk about borders, Trump & the broligarchs & the autocrats of the world don't care abt nations: they aim to rule as warlords over personal empires.

In case anyone was wondering where they’re trying to go with this, it’s clearly targeting the children of undocumented immigrants:

The “mere-presence-at-birth rule…rewards illegal behavior in a manner no drafter or ratifier of the Citizenship Clause endorsed.”
24 states have filed a brief at the Supreme Court in support of the Trump administration's effort to curb birthright citizenship, suggesting that it is not correct to say the issue is "settled and beyond debate."

The thing is, we all see now that the U.S. Constitution was incapable of preventing autocracy, as has been the case for so many countries that patterned their governments after ours.

The goal should not be a return to normal. The goal should be creating a new, more resilient democratic government.

Remind me:

What’s the word for an ideology that fuses corporations, religion, and the state in pursuit of military glory?
Katherine Boyle, former Peter Thiel intern, says government is an enemy of families.

So she's investing in high-tech weaponry...for the government.

I shared my thoughts on her "American Dynamism" — a VC pitch-deck version of Christian nationalism.

Newsom will have to go beyond simply mimicking Trump, but for now he's at least jamming the conversation, and thank heavens he stopped trying to be a right-wing influencer.

Pritzker brings a moral seriousness and courage that has been lacking—making it clear he's not afraid to be arrested.

Countering far-right messaging by repeating it mainstreams extremist ideas and amplifying extremist terminology cedes the framing of the issues to the right.

(I’ll add that social media “dunking” only serves to spread undesired content.)

Tesco had no rosemary yesterday.

On my way home I saw a huge rosemary bush in a garden, so I asked if I might have a single sprig.

The owner me gave me more rosemary than I’ll get through in a year, and lots of sage!

He told me to help myself any time.

Should we all have communal herb gardens?

I keep saying the Supreme Court majority is stealing judicial power from the lower federal courts. The second paragraph of Kagan's dissent today illustrates precisely what I mean.
Justice Kagan writes a dissent, joined by Sotomayor and Jackson. The majority has “enabled the presidential usurpation of Congress‘s power of the purse”.
